These tall ships also participated in the reenactment of the Battle of Lake Erie, but I never learned their names. Above is the eyesore known as Perry’s Monument. To the right is an uncredited proposal by an architectural firm that lost the design contest. It doesn’t take an art historian who specializes in American architecture to tell which looks better.
